Offer Description

Are you interested in how AI can empower neurodiverse children during their education? Do you want to work in an interdisciplinary environment and collaborate with psychologists, teachers, AI experts and philosophers? Then come join us as a postdoctoral researcher!

First, you will work to clarify the meaning of empowerment in the context of education (who exactly will be empowered, in what way, by which technologies, in order to achieve exactly what). Second, you will analyse the way AI might contribute to such an empowerment, investigate the potential risks and concerns, and suggest recommendations for design and application (including training) of AI. Third, you will develop a framework for the evaluation of the extent to which the empowerment aimed for has been or could be achieved. Intermediate results of this project will be fed back into the consortium to a) stimulate discussion with project members as to the extent to which methods and implementations are suitable for achieving the goal, and b) receive feedback on the usability of the project's intermediate results, and identify topics for extension or emphasis.


Requirements
Specific Requirements
  • You hold a PhD degree in Philosophy, Sociology, Ethics, or a closely related discipline.
  • You have excellent theoretical and analytical skills.
  • You have an understanding of, and an interest in, the ethics and societal implications of AI and technology, especially for the support of vulnerable populations.
  • You are able to work well in an interdisciplinary team.
  • You have an excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Previous experience with human-technology interaction, such as human-agent interaction, is desirable.

Benefits
  • It concerns an employment for 0.8 - 1.0 FTE.
  • The gross monthly salary amounts to a minimum of €4,332 and a maximum of €5,929 based on a 38-hour working week, depending on previous education and number of years of relevant work experience (salary scale 11 ).
  • You will receive 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
  • This is a temporary contract until 1 October 2025.
