Postdoctoral Researcher: Data Analysis for Sustainable Processing in the Circular Economy

Updated: 3 months ago
Job Type: Temporary
Deadline: 13 May 2021

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be involved in two projects conducted in collaboration with industry. In one project you will optimise plastic sorting in the circular economy using hyperspectral imaging and innovative Industry 4.0 algorithms. The position will involve a strong collaboration with industry and will require data scientific innovations in sorting algorithms to generate models that project partners may use to optimise material streams to make plastic recycling more sustainable and valuable. In the other project you will work together with several process industries to develop new Industry 4.0 methods.

You will work together with several colleagues within the department and with other researchers in environmental sciences and educational sciences to create interpretable and explainable models that provide both economic and environmental predictions and may be adopted by the companies. Your work includes developing new quantitative methods and disseminating these in papers and presentations. You will supervise student internships in the line of your own research. You will also be involved in teaching BSc and MSc students. Your research will require infrequent national travel to industrial partners.
