Updated: about 1 month ago
Deadline: 15 Nov 2023

Postdoctoral positions are available within the Exoplanet group led by Dr. Yamila Miguel at Leiden Observatory and The Netherlands Institute of Space Research. These positions are funded by the ERC Consolidator Grant N-GINE and the NWO Open Competition Grant. The research focus will be on the interiors, evolution, and atmospheres of giant exoplanets (transiting and direct imaging planets), integrating both theoretical and observational perspectives. Candidates with expertise in the modelling of interiors and evolution, or in the observation/modelling of exoplanet atmospheres, are particularly encouraged to apply.

The initial appointment will be for two years, with the possibility for a further one-year extension subject to a review during the second year. The position comes with a competitive salary and full benefits. Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in astronomy or physics.

Leiden Observatory and SRON are renowned institutions with vibrant academic environments, engaged in world-class observational and theoretical research spanning exoplanets, planet formation, and laboratory astrophysics, among others. Leiden Observatory is the largest astronomy department in the Netherlands, with about 35 faculty and adjunct faculty, 50 postdoctoral researchers, 80 PhD students, 30 support staff and over 100 MSc students.
