Postdoctoral Position on Software Development for Euclid

The astronomical departments of Leiden University and the University of Groningen invite applications for a postdoctoral position under the supervision of Dr. Rychard Bouwens and Prof. Karina Caputi. This position is mainly focused on software development and maintenance of the Euclid Consortium NIR data reduction pipeline, with an increasing fraction of time allowed for the scientific exploitation of Euclid data, preferably in the area of high-z galaxy evolution.

The successful candidate will be hired for two years, with the possibility of renewal for up to two more years based on performance. They should hold a PhD in Astronomy at the moment of taking the position. High-level programming skills and possibly previous experience on Euclid preparatory work will be important criteria for selection. The candidate can be based either in Leiden or Groningen, but should make frequent academic visits to the institution where they are not based. Both astronomical departments (Leiden Observatory and the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute in Groningen) are part of the Dutch top-research school NOVA.
