Job description

We seek to further increase our global visibility through top-level research in the field of Information Systems. Therefore, we are searching for a passionate colleague to further develop our research program related to data-driven innovation. The position is for a postdoc who will contribute to our goal to be one of the leading digital innovation groups. For this opening, we look for a candidate with an ambition to conduct top-level research and teaching focusing on the project dynamics that influence data-driven innovation success.  Relevant aspects can include, for instance, the challenges regarding achieving and maintaining alignment between business and data professionals in interdisciplinary project teams, and the role boundary objects can play in  these processes at the data project level.

We are looking for internationally oriented, ambitious, and collegial scholars who share our passion for the field of digital innovation and will contribute to our research and teaching. We welcome applications with a PhD in business administration, information systems, organization studies, or a related social science discipline. We are looking for candidates who combine knowledge of the business domain with a thorough understanding of digital technologies.

You will be actively involved in the development, organization and coordination of short-term postgraduate programmes (executive education) that aim at digital innovation management in general and data-driven innovation more specifically. These short-term programmes are part of a European digital innovation hub and targeted at SMEs.

Your duties

  • conducting research (80%) on data-driven innovation success
  • publishing in international top-tier journals
  • teaching (20%) in BSc and MSc programs at the School of Business and Economics and at the executive level in the programs of the KIN Center for Digital Innovation
  • contributing to the KIN Center for Digital Innovation in providing executive education and collaborating with the business community
  • developing, (co)organizing and coordinating postgraduate digital innovation management and data-driven innovation modules 

Requirements
  • earned PhD in business administration, information systems, organization studies or related discipline, or close to completion of a PhD trajectory
  • strong (quantitative and/or qualitative) methodological skills
  • in-depth knowledge of data-driven innovation and IS management
  • an ambitious research agenda and pipeline
  • demonstrate a potential to establish a successful publication track record
  • demonstrate experience in teaching in postgraduate programmes
  • interest in collaboration with industry partners and active research valorization and engagement with society is an asset
  • command of the Dutch language is a plus.

What are we offering?

A challenging position in a socially involved organization. On full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of €2,960 (scale 10)

and a maximum €4,670 (scale 10), depending on your education and experience. The job profile: is based on the university job ranking system and is vacant for at least 0.8 FTE.

The initial employment contract will affect a period of 1 year.After a satisfactory evaluation of the initial appointment, the contract will be extended for a total duration of 2 years

About KIN Center for Digital Innovation
The KIN Center for Digital Innovation (www.sbe.vu.nl/kin) is a multi-disciplinary research group focusing on digital innovation and is part of the School of Business and Economics of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. We are an international group of 35 researchers studying the ways in which the use and development of digital innovations affect the way we work and organize. The group is very well connected to both the academic, private, and public organizations. Our research is characterized by a practice-based approach and by its close collaboration with many business partners and researchers from other institutes. On top of delivering top quality teaching and research, the KIN Center for Digital Innovation is a platform for collaboration with private and public organizations, offering various forms of executive education, research collaboration, and knowledge sharing sessions for business partners.
