Are you our next Postdoc in polymers for photonics?
Position
(Post-doctoral) Researcher
Department(s)
Chemical Engineering and Chemistry
Reference number
V37.5760
Job description
The Supramolecular Polymer Chemistry group at the Eindhoven University of Technology is developing polymers for photonic applications in collaboration with the Electro-Optical Communication group in the department of Electrical Engineering. In a new project, you will develop photoswitchable molecules and integrate them as cladding for photonic integrated circuits (PICs). PICs offer unique opportunities to advance technology in areas such as computing, sensing and health care diagnostics but these circuits are not programmable and are still fully based on application specific chip design concepts. In order to enable programmable PIC technology, you will develop novel cladding materials which can change their refractive index in a non-volatile way.
Job requirements
We seek highly talented, motivated, and enthusiastic candidates with a PhD degree in synthetic polymer chemistry, organic chemistry, or a related discipline. You have a solid background in polymer and organic chemistry, as well as good communication skills, you are fluent in English, and should have a strong motivation to do original research as part of an interdisciplinary team. Experience with the synthesis and characterization of polymers or organic molecules is essential. Note that there are no Dutch language requirements. An interview and a scientific presentation are part of the selection process.
Conditions of employment
- A meaningful job in a dynamic and ambitious university with the possibility to present your work at international conferences.
- A full-time employment for 2 years.
- You will have free access to high-quality training programs for research and valorization, professional development courses for PhD students, and didactical courses of the TEACH training program.
- A gross monthly salary and benefits in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities.
- A broad package of fringe benefits (including an excellent technical infrastructure, moving expenses, and savings schemes).
- Family-friendly initiatives are in place, such as an international spouse program, and excellent on-campus children day care and sports facilities.
