Postdoc Loads and Survivability of Marine Renewables

Marine renewables are expected to increase their participation in the energy mix, however, innovations are needed to lead to solutions with high survivability in offshore environments, reduction of environmental impacts, and major cost reductions.

As our new Post-Doctoral researcher at the Marine Renewable Energies Lab (MREL), you will work with floating renewable energies, analyse critical areas requiring monitoring, and contribute improvement of array concepts. As part of this TU Delft team, you will be work with industry and academic partner in developing predictive methods and tools to assess extreme and cyclic fatigue loading of marine structures.MREL is  based within the Offshore Engineering group, in the Hydraulic Engineering department, the work is on innovative floaters for marine renewables (wind, wave and solar concepts).

You will be expected to conduct research (both independently and as part of a team) in marine/offshore energies applications. It is anticipated that you will disseminate research finding by writing in scientific international journals, attend international conferences. You will be expected to participate in coordination of the research activities, actively contribute to meet project milestones, and administrative tasks to other researchers and industry partners within the project.

You will contribute to the research and teaching activities of the Lab by developing/updating material for specified courses, have an active role in supervision of MSc students and PhD candidates, and contribute to proposals within the field.

We foresee that our new colleague will be self-motivated, curiosity-driven, open to communicate and collaborate with others, especially within the Lab.

A PhD in Civil Engineering with strong knowledge of non-linear time domain modelling and load estimations.

Excellent programming skills (Python/Matlab, etc) are expected, knowledge of and CAD is an advantage.
