Job description

We are looking to fill a vacancy for  0.8 – 1.0 FTE position for a PostDoc , within Maastricht University. The candidate will join the Department of Genetics and Cell Biology at the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (FHML).
He/she will be appointed to two different complementary institutes: NUTRIM, with cutting-edge facilities in the field of nutrition and metabolism; and GROW, with its extensive expertise in cancer models and infrastructure for tumor modelling. We are looking for a candidate who is willing to build a translational research line that fits and combines the expertise from the two institutes, and who will spend up to 50% of his/her time on the implementation and development of high-quality education within the different programs of the faculty. The candidate should be enthusiastic, ambitious, and creative, with passion towards translational research that combines metabolism and cancer and a wide interest in research with (pre)clinical data, clinical studies and/or "virtual clinical trials" on this topic.

Requirements
  • The candidate obtained a Master in Biomedical Sciences, Medical Biology, Life Sciences or a related Master.
  • The candidate should have a strong motivation with respect to translational research.
  • The candidate should have an affinity towards the fields of oncology and immunology.
  • A license to work with experimental animals, as well as experience therein, is a strong plus.
  • The candidate should have excellent writing skills.
  • The candidate should have an analytical mind-set and an independent work attitude.
  • The candidate should have the profile of a team player with good communication skills (in English) and a respectful attitude towards colleagues and collaborators.

Conditions of employment

The position is temporary (0.8 – 1.0 FTE) for one year, with the option of receiving a permanent position.

Depending on experience and qualification (scale 10 or 11). The maximum gross monthly salary is € 5,439 (on a full-time basis) in accordance with scale 11 of the Dutch university collective bargaining  agreement. On top of this, there is an 8% holiday and an 8.3% year-end allowance.
