Job Type: Temporary
Deadline: 22 Jun 2022

Are you an experienced researcher in operations management, data analytics, or a related discipline and looking for a new challenge?

The Operations department of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Groningen, is looking for an ambitious postdoctoral researcher with ample experience with data-driven techniques and statistics to analyze processes of emergency medical services (EMS).

Healthy Society is one of the key themes of the Faculty of Economics and Business. Within the Operations department this translates into research on healthcare operations management, addressing a large variety of healthcare providers, including their cooperation in care chains and networks. The aim is to promote a better understanding of current operational systems in health care, and contribute to their development, starting from a perspective of future needs and technological opportunities. To achieve these aims, the department is focused on conducting rigorous and cutting-edge research that is published in major operations management outlets. The department collaborates with leading scholars, business leaders, and major corporations in the Netherlands and abroad. See also: https://www.rug.nl/research/opera/

As a postdoc, you will work on a project that seeks to advance insights on the operations of acute care networks, as they are served by emergency medical services (EMS). Based on routine data of EMS providers, the project is aimed at identifying patterns that suggest avoidable reliance on EMS and analyze scenarios to understand how EMS resources can be used effectively. You will collaborate with a team of researchers of the Operations department and EMS providers. In doing so, the main tasks relate to analyzing data of EMS and other acute care providers. You will also contribute to the development of academic articles and managerial reports offering practical recommendations to EMS providers and (co)author articles. We are looking for someone who wants to develop further and refine their own ideas related to operations management in healthcare.
