The team management support & research policy supports the board of M&CS at an organizational and strategic level. They are responsible for providing management information, drafting policy documents & evaluation reports, preparation of meeting agendas, documents and presentations by the board.

Job description

The main objective of the current vacancy is support and advice of the department board with respect to research policy matters and general departmental and university policy. You are responsible for providing and gathering management information through result analysis of key performance indicators, for drafting policy documents and informing stakeholders about research developments, scientific prizes and milestones. In this role you also are responsible for quality assurance in the research domain. You set up the annual report on research and you coordinate the research assessments and mid-term reviews for the department.

You will carry out all activities in close cooperation with the board secretary, the domain secretary, the policy advisor education and representatives of the scientific staff of the department.

You will be part of the team management support and research policy. You may be requested to handle or support other tasks within this team, where necessary. You will report to the board secretary of the department.


Job requirements
  • Academic background (MSc or PhD level)
  • 2-3- years of relevant experience as policy advisor
  • Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills
  • Able to coordinate projects up to timely completion
  • Excellent organization and planning skills and well-structured in your work
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral); high proficiency in Dutch and English
  • Able to translate various views towards a consistent and uniform policy
  • Both independent and team-player, where sincerity and collegiality are prized
  • Accurate, result-oriented, persistent, flexible, stress-resistant and capable of dealing with deadlines
  • Connecting personality, sensible to corporate governance structures and able to build trust
  • Preferably affinity with mathematics, computer science and/or data science in higher education and research

  • A challenging job (0.6 fte - 0.8 fte) in a dynamic department

  • The salary will depend on your knowledge, experience and education, and will be a minimum of €2,836.- and a maximum of €5,211.- gross per month on a full-time basis (scale 10/11 Collective Labor Agreement for the Dutch Universities).
  • An attractive package of fringe benefits, including excellent work facilities, 41 days of holiday, holiday allowance 8% in May, end-of-year bonus of 8.3% in December, and excellent sports facilities.
