The Amsterdam Law School seeks to strengthen her equality, diversity and inclusion policy. Therefore, there is a faculty wide Commission on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (CEDI) in place. The commission is currently looking for two new academic and support staff members as well as three new student members.

The Dean of the Amsterdam Law School has drawn up an action plan for Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (E, D & I). The commission supports and participates in the implementation of selected short-term immediate priorities for E, D & I, as drawn up in this action plan, takes initiatives for other E, D & I actions, advises on developing longer term strategic objectives and monitors progression.

The commission is chaired by the Law School’s Diversity Officer Wike Been. The commission works in close cooperation with the Dean of the Amsterdam Law School, the Faculty Board, the Law School’s students and works council and other academic and support staff members and students.

Job description

Activities of the commission include:

  • engagement with the implementation of selected actions of the action plan;
  • taking initiatives for other actions to support an E, D & I culture within the Law School;
  • advising on new evidence based E, D & I actions;
  • contributing to the continual progression of E, D & I policy and initiatives based on feedback from trends and best practices;
  • engagement on priority topics with key internal stakeholders;
  • contributing to developing an E, D & I communications as well as a monitoring plan.



  • either hold a position within the academic or support staff of the Law School or you are an Amsterdam Law School student;
  • have awareness of issues regarding E, D & I;
  • have profound interest in (and preferably experience with) successfully driving an E, D & I agenda through an organization;
  • hold the ability to work with people at different levels of an organization;
  • are well informed on all cultural aspects of the Amsterdam Law School.

Our offer

The vacancy is for internal candidates only. Staff members of the committee will be appointed for two years, students will be appointed for one year, both with the possibility of immediate prolongation.

Compensation for staff members is 50 hours on a yearly basis.

Student members will be renumerated for 50 hours on a yearly basis. 

About the Amsterdam Law School

The CEDI is an active commission existing of student- and staff members that meets every two weeks to discuss actions to be taken to improve E, D & I within the Amsterdam Law School.
