We are looking for a Medical doctor / arts-onderzoeker with a strong interest in neuro-inflammation. The project aims at addressing the role of various aspects of inflammation in the progression of cerebral small vessel disease. Will you join our team?

This position involves recruiting a cohort of 100 patients with cerebral small vessel disease and analysis of advanced MRI data (DTI, blood brain barrier imaging) and of immunological assays. Immune cell analyses will be performed by a laboratory technician. The project is part of an exciting collaborative project, funded by the Dutch and British Heart Foundations, with a neurologist and immunologist of the university of Cambridge (UK).

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Selecting and recruiting/inviting of about 100 patients with cerebral small vessel disease.
  • Withdrawal of blood.
  • Examination of study participants (medical history, physical and neuropsychological examination).
  • Planning of MRI scans.
  • Responsible for planning and logistics of the study.
  • Performing MRI pre- and postprocessing.
  • Statistical analysis of immunological data and MRI/clinical outcomes.
  • Aligning procedures and analyses with colleagues in Cambridge.
  • Participating in regular consortium meetings in Cambridge and Nijmegen.
  • Preparing manuscripts, resulting in a PhD thesis.
