Are you an application specialist with coding experience? Are you familiar with the processes of research and research support? Then read on quickly, because you might be the new colleague we are looking for.
Job description

“Supporting your academic goals.” That is what we do at Maastricht University (UM) Library. To better support those goals, we are looking for talented individuals who want to contribute to the development and design of a completely new UM-wide Research Project Services platform.

The platform will be developed:

  • to support Research(-project) related workflows and processes like the GDPR registration of a project, getting approval of an ethics review board, or writing a Data Management Plan;
  • based on ‘no-code’ ITSM software (Jira Service Management);
  • with input from and in close collaboration with researchers and Maastricht University (UM) support staff.

Our project approach is based on the Agile Scrum project management framework.

Your work focuses on:

  • Analysing the performance of the application, identifying possible improvements, upgrades or add-ons and advising the product owner on this. You also contribute to the implementation of these improvements to optimise the support for processes and automate them where possible, thereby daring to challenge ideas and methods.
  • Collaborating with colleagues of our project team and colleagues in the UM community - such as researchers, support staff, key users, as well as with the providers of the software. You will collaborate with other departments to understand the organisation's needs and adjust the configuration of Jira Service Management accordingly.
  • Translating requirements and user stories into effective and user-friendly solutions.
  • Developing, designing and configuring the Research Project Services Platform.
  • Providing support to users and documenting the configuration process.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting issues within the application.
  • Establishing connections with other applications e.g., via APIs.

With your work as an application specialist, you contribute to the development of an online platform from which researchers, support staff and the faculties will experience many benefits.
