Are you passionate about educating our future scientists? Are you innovative and able to get the best out of your students? Do you have a background in Food Microbiology, - Technology or – Sciences? We, Wageningen University & Research, have an open position for a Lecturer in the chair Food Microbiology! Will you join our team?

What are you going to do?
As lecturer in Food Microbiology, you will have various teaching roles. Think of:

  • supervision of lab classes and group work,
  • lecturing and supervision of MSc and BSc thesis students and internships.
  • developing education modules that will be used in our academic education and also shared with European partners within the Catalyse project .

Specific Requirements

Your Qualities
As lecturer, of course you have didactic qualities and are driven to teach and work with students. Besides that, you also:

  • have an MSc or preferably a PhD in Food Microbiology, Food Technology, or Food Sciences;
  • have intrinsic motivation for continuous improvement of education;
  • are a creative education designer and have the ability to implement knowledge on various aspects of foods (processing, quality, safety) and microbiology into challenging educational modules and thesis topics;
  • are a team player, accurate and fluent in English;
  • are a good communicator, organizer with a pro-active attitude.

In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level C1. If you do not yet have this level, we will of course help you and you can go to our language center Wageningen in'to Language .

Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between €3226,- and €5090,- for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 10). Additionally, a contract for 32 hours a week can be discussed. Initially, we offer you a one-year contract, which will then be extended with 2 more years if there is mutual enthusiasm.
