Job description

The Department of Quantitative Economics within the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University has leading international reputation both for research and education in econometrics, actuarial sciences, mathematical economics and operations research. We are offering a 2 years lecturer position in the field of quantitative methods, statistics and mathematics. The main task within that position is to coordinate and to teach to first and second year economic and business students courses involving quantitative methods, mathematics and statistics.

Requirements
  • A PhD in quantitative fields, or a MSc degree with several years of experience in teaching statistics and mathematics at the university level.
  • Candidates with a PhD are expected to teach between 60% and 70%, the rest being devoted to research.
  • Candidates with a MSc are expected to only have teaching activities.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 2 years.

The latest start date of the appointment is 1 September 2023. But starting one or two months earlier in order to prepare for the next academic year is preferable.

Lecturers (Docent 3) will be according to standard salary levels, scale 11 starting with a salary from €3.974 annual growth to € 5.439 gross a month (based on a full-time appointment). Lecturers with a Msc (Docent 4) start in scale 10 at € 2.960 to €4.670 with an increment depending on their years of experience spent in similar jobs. Each year the standard salary is supplemented with a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% of the yearly gross income.

You have to be willing to move to (the vicinity of) Maastricht. If you do not already live in Maastricht (or its direct surroundings), you will be eligible for an allowance for moving costs and a relocation reimbursement.
