Offer Description

The Department of Media and Communication has a short-term, temporary vacancy for a Lecturer in Media and Creative Industries (WD) for 0.6-0.9 fte.

The successful candidate is expected to perform teaching and supervising tasks for the International Bachelor’s programme in Communication and Media (IBCoM) and/or the Master’s programmes in Media & Creative Industries.


Requirements
Specific Requirements
  • A relevant academic degree (preferably research master or PhD), in the social sciences or humanities, preferably in media and communication.
  • In-depth knowledge of media and creative industries research and current developments in the production, distribution and consumption of media and digital entertainment and/or media management, entrepreneurship and digital media technologies.
  • A broad knowledge of key theories and perspectives in the field of media and communication.
  • A broad knowledge and mastery of common quantitative and/or qualitative research methods in media and communication.
  • Prior teaching experience and the proven ability to inspire students.
  • Affinity and experience with media and communication research.
  • Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English. Non-English speakers have to meet the
    C1-standards of the Common European Framework (CEF).
  • Strong team-playing, organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in international academic settings.

The start date of this position is August 15th, 2023. The position concerns a temporary contract which will be running for one-year until August 14th, 2024. After this period, an extension is possible. You will be based at the Campus Woudestein - Rotterdam.

The position is for 0,6 fte - 0,9 fte. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 2.960 to a maximum of € 5.439 gross per month on a fulltime basis, in accordance with Scale 10 or 11 of the CAO-NU. In addition, we offer an 8% holiday allowance, an end-of-year payment of 8.3%, and a very generous paid leave scheme. Furthermore, EUR is affiliated with ABP for the pension provision, and we offer partially paid parental leave, fully paid extended birth leave for partners, a personal career budget, work-life balance coaches, discounted collective health insurance, and more.
