The Department of Cognitive Neuroscience at the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience is looking for a fixed-term (max. 2 years) Lecturer in Developmental (Neuro)Psychology.
The successful applicant will be a member of the section of Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience situated within the Department of Cognitive Neuroscience (Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience, Maastricht University). Current research topics within the section are focused on the typical and atypical neurocognitive development of attention (mind wandering), executive control, memory, and number processing.
Job description

The candidate is expected to:

• Teach; this will primarily be within the 1-year master program of Developmental Psychology (but also the Bachelor Program in Psychology). • Conduct research. The candidate will be closely collaborating with staff in the section having the opportunity to contribute to/participate in ongoing developmental projects, as well as to develop independent experiments within the broader aims of research within the section (e.g. the typical and atypical development of attention-emotion interactions/mind wandering/executive control/number learning). Depending on interest/experience, participation in behavioural as well as neurobiological (e.g. EEG/ERP) developmental research projects belongs to the possibilities.

The teaching load for this position will be approx. 60% vs 40% research.

Requirements

The ideal candidate:

• Has recently finished or will soon finish his/her PhD in a field closely related to Developmental (Neuro)Psychology relevant to the teaching/research in our section;
• Has interest in/affinity teaching different developmental topics from infancy, perception, attention, language to socio-emotional development, including involved neurobiological factors;
• Is capable and willing to lecture/tutor (and co-coordinate) in courses of FPN’s Master in Developmental Psychology and/or in the Faculty’s Bachelor of Psychology;
• Is capable and willing to offer/supervise research internship (master thesis) projects for Developmental Psychology Master students;
• Fluency in the English language in speech and writing. MSc programs in Psychology at the Faculty are taught in English;
• Preferably has a UTQ (BKO).

• Has experience with the design and execution of empirical/experimental research projects and possesses strong statistical and academic writing skills;
• Has a personality characterized by team spirit and has excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and the ability to work independently.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 2 years.

The position is temporary for the duration of max. 2 years. The salary will be set in salary scale 11 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (between
€ 3.821,- and € 5.230,- gross per month depending on experience and qualifications, based on a full-time appointment). On top of this, there is an 8% holiday allowance and a 8.3% year-end allowance.
