The Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) is one of the most successful faculties in the Netherlands in the field of research in collaboration with industry. Currently, the faculty has approximately 1200 Bachelor and Master students and more than 300 PhD students.

The vacancy is part of the research groups "Integrated Circuits (IC)" and 'Electromagnetics (EM)' in the EE department. The IC group specializes in the field of (analog and mixed-signal) electronics, including the field of millimeter-wave frequency front-ends that will be introduced in the next 10 years in 6G wireless communications and in car radar to enable autonomous driving, (sub)-terahertz research for new applications, but also low-power health electronics for biomedical applications. The EM group specializes amongst others in (smart) antennas and front-ends research for 6G communications, and their characterization techniques. Both groups are embedded in the Center for Wireless Technology (CWTe) which facilitates multi-disciplinary research across the different research groups in the department.

We are looking for a research lab manager for 1,0 fte (fulltime).

The labs the successful candidate will be managing are high-end lab facilities, known as the CWTe labs, of more than 700m2 with state-of-the-art equipment to measure integrated circuits and antennas for research purposes. This position can optionally be combined with a study towards a master degree in electrical engineering.

Tasks

The responsibilities include:

  • Advising students and researchers on the construction and use of measurement setups;
  • Managing the labs, including maintenance and purchases of new state-of-the-art equipment;
  • Contributing to research on new measurement methods;
  • Supporting the CWTe management in the role of CWTe lab manager.
