Offer Description

The LAMASUS project, financed by the European Commission, aims at creating an innovative modelling system that can anticipate the potential impacts of different agricultural and forestry policies in Europe. Within LAMASUS, our institute contributes on spatial modelling to assess the wider impacts of policy interventions of the European Union's climate neutrality target and sustainable agricultural practices on European land use and landscapes. The junior researcher will contribute to this task by translating results of economic models to spatial land use models and synthesise the resulting impacts and sustainability indicators. The junior researcher will communicate with other modelling teams in the consortium and help translate the outcomes of the research towards policy implications and present these at meetings and in scientific papers.

Your duties

  • apply land use change models to determine the impact of policy interventions on land use change and other sustainability metrics
  • interpret the results and prepare maps and visualisations
  • contribute to project deliverables, reports and stakeholder communication
  • (Co)-publish relevant results in peer-reviewed journals and participate in scientific conferences and workshops

Requirements
Specific Requirements

  • you have worked with simulation models, preferably spatial models
  • you are interested in the interactions between agro-economy, land use, and the environment
  • you are capable of handling large, often spatially explicit datasets
  • you have good communication skills for collaborating with consortium partners
