INTERNSHIP: 3D PRINTING BIOMATERIALS, SYSTEMS
Non academic staff (supporting staff)
Department of Mechanical Engineering
High Tech Systems Center
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
3D printing is leading the next industrial revolution, but there are several barriers blocking mass adoption as the next manufacturing method. 3D printing must become faster, more accurate, more repeatable, and capable of producing end-use parts. AMSystems Center, a collaboration of TNO and TU/E, has been formed to address these challenges. AMSystems Center develops next generation 3D printing systems made to produce production parts, such as free-form electronics, pharmaceutical pills, and medical devices.
AMSystems Center has developed a demonstrator for the factory-of-the-future automated manufacturing cell equipped with 3D printing, scanning, ablation, and other optional modular stations. We are looking for a student to take this current system to the next level by adding the capability to print biocompatible medical instruments and implants. The student will be working on upgrading the system’s printing module and expanding the types of materials that can be used. The climax of the project is a demonstration day for TNO’s customers to showcase the system’s new functionality of printing medical devices.
WHAT DO WE REQUIRE OF YOU?
We are looking for students in the Technical Sciences with strong mechanical engineering skills, inventive mindset to quickly solve problems, ability to work independently, and a results-oriented approach to complete this project in a short timeline.
Conditions of employment
We are interested in hiring a student for 6 to 9 months. The position will be filled as soon as possible and applications will be accepted up to July 1st . Please do not wait until the deadline to submit an application as applicants will be considered on a rolling basis.
