Job description

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

3D printing is leading the next industrial revolution, but there are several barriers blocking mass adoption as the next manufacturing method. 3D printing must become faster, more accurate, more repeatable, and capable of producing end-use parts. AMSystems Center, a collaboration of TNO and TU/E, has been formed to address these challenges. AMSystems Center develops next generation 3D printing systems made to produce production parts, such as free-form electronics, pharmaceutical pills, and medical devices.

AMSystems Center has developed a demonstrator for the factory-of-the-future automated manufacturing cell equipped with 3D printing, scanning, ablation, and other optional modular stations. We are taking this current system to the next level by adding the capability to print biocompatible medical instruments and implants. The student will be responsible for designing sample parts consisting of medical instruments and implants. These parts will be printed on the updated demonstrator machine. The student will also be responsible for translating the CAD design into executable 3D printing code. The climax of the project is a demonstration day with TNO’s customers to showcase the  new printed medical devices.
