Job description

ACTA strives for societal impact by advancing oral health through education, service, research and discovery. The department of Periodontology offers ideal circumstances to make the difference in oral care by educating top-level periodontists and execute high impact research to improve the understanding of the etiology and pathogenesis of oral diseases as part of general health enabling early prevention and improved treatment of oral diseases.

As a full professor you will work as a clinician, lecturer and scientist, and you will help to bring and perpetuate periodontal education, care and research at top level and thus make an important contribution to oral health care. You will play an educational and clinical role in the postdoctoral Periodontology program and must also be an experienced periodontist for the treatment of patients.


Requirements

As a successful clinician scientist with a periodontal specialty focus you meet the majority of the following criteria:

  • You have followed formal training as a dentistperiodontist (preferably at an EFP accredited institute)
  • You are BIG registered (Royal Dutch Dental Association BIG Act) or you can be registered within two years
  • You have substantial clinical expertise in the field of periodontology
  • You have relevant leadership & management skills, including experience supervising residents and junior faculty
  • You have good teaching and communication skills
  • You have a doctoral degree (e.g. PhD) in a relevant field (e.g. dentistry), with extensive research experience as evidenced by scientific publications, fellowships, and/or other forms of academic recognition
  • You have an affinity for and experience with providing and coordinating teaching and supervising Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students
  • You have experience supervising scientific research and establishing clinical trials and can motivate and inspire junior staff and postdoctoral students in this role
  • You have an extensive international network that will strengthen the position of the Department of Periodontology in Europe
  • You are in a position to obtain national and international grants and enter into partnerships
  • You work well in teams

What are we offering?

A challenging position as a Full Professor in a socially involved organization. On a full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of € 5,864 and a maximum of € 8,539, depending on your experience. The monthly salary is also augmented with an 8% holiday allowance and 8.3 % end-of-year bonus, which amounts to a gross annual salary of a minimum of € 81,838 and a maximum of € 119,170. A fulltime working week amounts to 38 hours per week. If you prefer, we allow you to combine this position with one day per week working in an outside practice as a periodontist. In that case our employment contract is for 32 hours per week with a minimum annual gross salary of € 68,916 and a maximum of € 100,354. If you meet the criteria of Full Professor level 1 on a fulltime basis the maximum annual salary is € 143,872.
