Faculty of Science
Maximum salary: € 7,659 gross/month
Vacancy number: 62.24.17
Application deadline: 26 March 2017

Responsibilities

As a full professor, you will further broaden and strengthen our excellence in the field of Organic Chemistry, particularly the design and synthesis of complex molecular systems inspired by nature. Your research topic should preferably be either Soft Molecular Matter or Metal-organic Chemistry/Catalysis. You will be expected to incorporate new ideas and develop new directions in these fields, preferably by seeking collaborative synergies with the institute’s other research themes. We will encourage you to familiarise yourself with the unique facilities available at the IMM and to develop new research programmes, making full use of the institute’s world-class infrastructure. You will also be expected to enthusiastically adopt a leading role in the development and teaching of modern and inspiring teaching programmes at both the Bachelor’s and Master’s level, as provided by the educational institute of Molecular Sciences.

Work environment

The Institute for Molecules and Materials is an interdisciplinary research institute in chemistry and physics at the Radboud University. Its mission is to perform fundamental research at the highest international standards to understand, design and control the functioning of molecules and materials and to educate and train the next generation of leaders in science and entrepreneurship. The IMM actively explores and promotes the interaction with industry and the application of its fundamental research. The IMM distinguishes itself from similar institutes by the intense collaborations and interactions between chemists and physicists, and experimentalists and theorists. The IMM’s second major asset is its very strong infrastructure, which includes two large user facilities, the High Field Magnet Laboratory (HFML) and the Free Electron Lasers for Infrared eXperiments (FELIX), as well as an NMR facility, extensive laser laboratories, clean room facilities for crystal growth and device processing, a Trace Gas Facility, and a scanning probe laboratory. The IMM hosts a number of world-leading research efforts in the chemical sciences, ranging from the elucidation of quantum-level interactions between colliding molecules to the exploitation of self-assembly and self-organisation to create functional cell-like structures, to the study of the complexity and functions that emerge in networks of chemical reactions.
Radboud University is an equal opportunity employer, committed to building a culturally diverse intellectual community and as such encourages applications from women and minorities. The university offers customised facilities to better align work and private life. Parents are entitled to partly paid parental leave and Radboud University employees enjoy flexibility in the way they structure their work. The university highly values the career development of its staff, which is facilitated by a variety of programmes.
