Job description
The Department of Biomedical Engineering of the Eindhoven University of Technology aims at research and education on the edge between biology and engineering, with a focus on the human body. High end research is performed in our shared state-of-the-art laboratories and students are challenged to work in these laboratories early on in their education. Practical courses in the bachelor phase aimed at biomechanics and tissue engineering are usually done in the SkillsLab, a versatile student-oriented laboratory situated between the shared research labs in the Gemini building: Laboratory for Cell & Tissue Engineering and Laboratory for Biomechanics.
We are searching for a research technician with an affinity for education who will work in the Laboratory for Cell & Tissue Engineering, bridging out to our SkillsLab. As experimental education instructor you bring in general knowledge on cell biology, biochemistry, material science and/or molecular biology. You support the team of labmanagers in running the highly used (>250 users) laboratories in Gemini and use your expertise in research projects and for troubleshooting. As a specific focus you are concerned with facilitating practical education in the labs. These include courses at both the bachelor and master level, combined with the individual bachelor end projects. You will connect responsible teachers with the lab facilities to optimize teaching the experimental skills side of the education. You will train and oversee the teaching assistants (usually master students) and will be the first point of contact for the bachelor end project students and their supervisors. You will ensure quality of the used experimental methods is upheld in the education.
