DIFFER

The Dutch Institute for Fundamental Energy Research (DIFFER) performs leading fundamental research on materials, processes, and systems for a global sustainable energy infrastructure. We work in close partnership with (inter)national academia and industry. Our user facilities are open to industry and university researchers. As an institute of the Dutch Research Council (NWO) DIFFER plays a key role in fundamental research for the energy transition.

We use a multidisciplinary approach applicable on two key areas, solar fuels for the conversion and storage of renewable energy and nuclear fusion – as a clean source of energy.


Differ is looking for an Experienced Designer

You invent, design and detail parts. You make compositions for scientific research setups. You make technical drawings and calculations. In addition, you do research into the most suitable purchasing parts. You inventory and analyze the technical challenges that arise during the design and you come up with relevant solutions. You work out constructions with a sharp eye for quality, manufacturability and safety. You also follow the progress during production and you assess change proposals for the consequences for the construction.


Position and requirements

You have an HBO level (e.g. HTS/HBO mechanical engineering or precision engineering) and knowledge of industrial production methods. You have extensive experience in designing complex equipment, as well as joining techniques such as welding and soldering. You are proficient in working with 3-D CAD design software, preferably with NX and/or CATIA. You can communicate well orally and in writing in both Dutch and English and you enjoy working in a team.


Terms and conditions

This position is for 0,8 - 1 FTE, will be for a period of {link time} and is graded in pay scale 8, 9. The position will be based at DIFFER (www.differ.nl ) and the working location will be at TU Eindhoven. When fulfilling a position at DIFFER, you will have an employee status at NWO.
