The departments of Macro, International, and Labour Economics (MILE) and Microeconomics and Public Economics (MPE) of the School of Business and Economics have a job opening for a department administrator for 0.8-1.0 fte
Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, take-charge professional that will act as the binding factor for MILE and MPE at the School of Business and Economics. You support the Head of Department and are the first contact for department members when it concerns administrative, financial, HR, and organizational issues. Together with the two departmental secretariats, you are responsible for high quality support in a broad sense.

In this job you will:

  • Be responsible for the departments’ internal financial administration
  • Advise the Head of Department (HoD) in the annual budget cycle
  • Be the contact person to the SBE financial consultant and controller to check progress reports for correctness and completeness
  • Be responsible for the internal handling of the HR administration and the connection between  the departments and the central HR administration
  • Be responsible for the departments’ education management system (annual cycle)
  • Be responsible for the tutor allocation for each period (6 times per year)

You are accurate, pro-active, flexible, service-oriented and well-organized. You have excellent writing and verbal communication skills and can interact with a variety of people ranging from support staff to academic staff members to students. You are stress resistant, can deal with peak loads, and you are capable of multi-tasking. We expect you to be eager to learn and to be result-oriented. We are looking for a colleague with a positive and upbeat personality, who also fulfils the following requirements.

  • Successful completion of a relevant Higher Vocational Education (or Dutch HBO) or equal educational program.
  • Excellent English and Dutch language skills (writing, speaking, reading).
  • Experience in a similar function.
  • At home in an international and complex organizational environment.
  • Able to organize your workload and set clearly defined priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • You can reflect on your own performance and you use feedback in order to develop yourself.
  • Proficiency in the latest version of the Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and web searches).

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year fixed term employment contract (1.0 or 0.8 fte).

  • The salary will be set in salary scale 8 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (from € 2.710 to € 3.619 gross per month depending on experience and qualifications, based on a full-time appointment). On top of this, there is a 8% holiday allowance and a 8.3% year-end allowance.

Intended start date is 1 August 2022. After one year, conversion in a permanent position is possible, conditional on good performance.
