Help our researchers adopt good data and software management practices to power the research that drives innovation. Join TU Delft's Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science as a data steward.
Imagine witnessing the evolution of the internet at the faculty that built DelftBlue, one of the world’s fastest supercomputers. Or supporting the researchers who are mapping disease processes using single-cell data. At TU Delft’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS)we find solutions for major societal challenges using sustainable technology. Join us as a data steward to participate in innovations shaping the future of technology and society.
At TU Delft, we have data stewards embedded at every faculty to support our data management needs across the campus. As part of the EEMCS support staff, you’ll work with the existing faculty data steward and report to the faculty manager. Here, you will be in close contact with researchers, research project data managers and PhD candidates. Within EEMCS you’ll be training researchers, identifying new developments and advising management. You will also explore and analyse trends in research data and software management specific to your faculty and engage with external research data management communities to develop and exchange best practices. In addition, you’ll help to develop relevant software and evaluate and update the faculty’s data management strategy and policy and do reporting.
You’ll also be part of the university-wide data stewards team, where you’ll work closely with the other faculty data stewards as well as data analysts, contract managers and ICT. Furthermore, you’ll liaise with stakeholders in the areas of privacy, security, ethics and legal. In addition, you’ll help streamline workflows within TU Delft, facilitate FAIR software practices and promote open science practices.
You have an analytic mind and enjoy operating independently. But you can also work well with people at all levels, from students to senior scientific staff, while remaining sensitive to TU Delft’s international culture and practices. In addition, you have:
- A MSc degree in the exact sciences and experience with relevant research topics and methodologies.
- Interest in or experience with open science, FAIR data and FAIR software.
- A good understanding of how research works and how data and software underpin reproducible research.
- Hands-on experience managing research data and software and making it reproducible.
- Fluency in English. Dutch is a plus.
- A salary based on scale 10 of the collective agreement (cao) for Dutch Universities between €2960 and €4670 gross per month, based on a full working week (38 hours), plus an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
- A flexible working week, with 2 days of hybrid working per week, based on a full working week
- 232 hours of annual leave (based on a 38-hour working week). Your individual choice budget allows you to buy additional hours or sell surplus hours.
- An extensive education and training offering.
- An excellent pension scheme at ABP.
- The possibility of compiling an individual employment package every year.
- Partially paid parental leave.
- Health insurance discounts.
- Access to our Health Coach Programme, which stimulates healthy working and vitality.

It delivers world class results in education, research and innovation to address challenges in the areas of energy, climate, mobility, health and digital society. For generations, our engineers have proven to be entrepreneurial problem-solvers, both in business and in a social context.
At TU Delft we embrace diversity as one of our core values and we actively engage to be a university where you feel at home and can flourish. We value different perspectives and qualities. We believe this makes our work more innovative, the TU Delft community more vibrant and the world more just. Together, we imagine, invent and create solutions using technology to have a positive impact on a global scale. That is why we invite you to apply. Your application will receive fair consideration.
Challenge. Change. Impact!
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) brings together three scientific disciplines. Combined, they reinforce each other and are the driving force behind the technology we all use in our daily lives. Technology such as the electricity grid, which our faculty is helping to make completely sustainable and future-proof. At the same time, we are developing the chips and sensors of the future, whilst also setting the foundations for the software technologies to run on this new generation of equipment – which of course includes AI. Meanwhile we are pushing the limits of applied mathematics, for example mapping out disease processes using single cell data, and using mathematics to simulate gigantic ash plumes after a volcanic eruption. In other words: there is plenty of room at the faculty for ground-breaking research. We educate innovative engineers and have excellent labs and facilities that underline our strong international position. In total, more than 1000 employees and 4,000 students work and study in this innovative environment.
