Job description
You will primarily work with the data as a data science research assistant, including data cleaning, data analysis and modeling. You will investigate, for example, what variables to include from a statistical point of view and what the optimal way is to handle missing data in the current dataset. You will participate in research decisions from both a data scientific and substantive point of view.
You will collaborate with a highly interdisciplinary team, including experts on psychology, law and behavior, and behavioral data science. If the project results in a published peer-reviewed article, you will be co-author.

Requirements
  • you're finishing your Bachelor's or currently in your Master's, in social sciences with a data science related specialization;
  • experience with survey-based data analysis (e.g., in followed courses or internships);
  • good level of statistical knowledge;
  • good skills in R;
  • It's a plus if you have knowledge of psychological network analysis, e.g., followed the Network Analysis course in the Behavioral Data Science Master or Psychology Research Master.

Conditions of employment
We offer an employment contract for the fixed term of four months, preferably starting on 5 September 2022. The employment contract is for 16 hours a week. You will work in a vital working environment in an interdisciplinary team and be part of developing and applying novel methods in impactful publications.
Your salary, depending on your relevant experience on commencement of the employment contract, ranges between €2.402 to €2.611 gross per month on the basis of a full working week of 38 hours. This sum does not include the 8% holiday allowance and the 8.3% year-end allowance. TheCollective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU) is applicable.

Would you like to gain experience as a data science research assistant in an interdisciplinary research project? We are looking for an enthusiastic student assistant with a background in (behavioral) data science for research support in a special and unique collaboration between the Law Faculty and the Psychology Department. In the project, we aim to understand how compliance with large behavioral transitions, such as the social distance measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, develops over time. We combine a large, longitudinal dataset that includes measures on compliance and behavior with state-of-the-art methodological tools, such as psychological network analysis.
