Your job
Are you a computer scientist with a PhD degree who would like to contribute to researching global sustainability challenges? Join Wageningen University as a postdoc to develop Artificial Intelligence and Data Science methods to analyse the intertwined role of text and images in sustainability discussions on social media.
In this collaborative research project between the Public Administration and Policy Group and the Wageningen Data Competence Center, social media are studied as a playing field on which policy controversies about sustainability issues are played out. Text and visuals are used to influence the public debate on these topics and convey particular messages. While text and visuals have often been analysed separately, their combination is likely to generate a strong effect. The aim of the project is to advance the representation of social media messages as multimodal objects (including both text and visuals), through extracting features and representing them in a high-dimensional vector space, thereby advancing data science and machine learning methods for multimodal framing of sustainability issues on social media.
