Updated: about 2 months ago

Your job

Are you looking for a job in the fast-changing world of libraries? Do you enjoy working in an academic environment? Are you IT savvy, meticulous and service oriented, and do you communicate easily with both direct colleagues and researchers? Then we are looking for you!

In order to strengthen our Research Information team, we are looking for a:
Data Librarian / Metadata Manager for 32 hours per week
As a data librarian, you will be responsible for checking and filing research data in international data repositories and registering datasets in Pure. In addition, you will explain to researchers the metadata needed to file a dataset in a repository for the long term.
As a metadata manager, you and your colleagues will be responsible for the databases that manage the output of all Wageningen University & Research (WUR) research. The systems used for this purpose are Pure (WUR’s Research Information System (RIS)) and Research@WUR (WUR’s portal for all research results).

What will you be doing?
Our services and systems are constantly evolving with changes in WUR research and education. How you work is in line with this, as you are committed to diligence as well as continuous improvement and innovation.

  • You will advise researchers on how to prepare datasets for archiving and publication;
  • You will assist researchers in storing research data in international repositories (4TU.ResearchData, DANS Data Stations and Zenodo);
  • You will enter and check metadata of WUR datasets and WUR publications in our RIS;
  • You will handle questions from researchers and their support staff that come in via the help desk (concerning dataset storage or metadata quality, for example);
  • You will participate in projects to improve workflows and help with implementing new systems or modules relating to the Research Information System and the data infrastructures.

You will collaborate with 6 colleagues on the team that manages the data in Pure, monitors the quality of the data entered, educates and instructs researchers and their support staff, and provides adequate support (help desk, training courses, manuals). Together with your fellow data librarian, you will also have close contact with your colleagues from Research Data Management Support.

Your qualities
  • You have at least higher professional (HBO) qualifications.
  • You have an affinity for academic research, preferably for topics from the WUR domain.
  • You feel at home in the world of digital applications and databases. You enjoy learning how new IT applications work and how to optimise processes.
  • You are results-oriented and flexible; you work independently but are also able to work well with others.
  • You are accurate and work efficiently.
  • You have an excellent command of English and Dutch, both orally and in writing.
  • Do you already have experience working with a Research Information System or a data repository? That would be a definite plus.

We offer you

Wageningen University & Research offers excellent employment conditions . Highlights from our Wageningen Research Collective Labour Agreement include:

  • A strong focus on vitality, and you can make use of the sports facilities available on campus for an attractive price;
  • A fixed 4% end-of-year bonus;
  • An excellent ABP pension scheme.

In addition to these excellent fringe benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive salary of between €2,695,- and €4,001,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the
