Job description

As the Contract Administrator Teaching Assistants you manage and arrange contracts for the Computer Science department at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. This includes contracts with Teaching Assistants (TA’s) and external partners.

You keep an overview of all these contracts and are responsible for the necessary actions from the beginning to the successful end. You have close contact with all the stake holders and keep them informed about the processing of their contracts. You are the first point of contact for HRM. You provide instructors, TA’s, and the HRM Servicedesk with useful information about the contracts, and when necessary, you stay in touch with the HR Advisor and Department Manager. Towards the future your role may develop further, which will result in more complex HRM tasks and responsibilities. The VU will provide additional training and courses if necessary.

Your duties

  • keeping an overview of contracts of the department. This includes starting and extending the contracts
  • being the first point of contact for instructors regarding Teaching Assistant contracts. You provide deadlines and instructions for hiring Teaching Assistants
  • sending Teaching Assistants instructions regarding their contracts. You also answer their questions
  • keeping the TA Canvas page up to date with relevant information and posting TA vacancies
  • being the first point of contract for the HRM Servicedesk regarding Teaching Assistants contracts
  • communicating with the International Office regarding work permits
  • liaising with HR Advisor and Business Manager when necessary

Requirements
  • you have a Bachelor’s degree
  • you have strong administrative skills and problem solving skills. Experience with similar administrative tasks is a plus
  • you work very accurately and independently. You have a service-oriented attitude
  • you can work with instructors and students from different cultural backgrounds
  • you have strong written communication skills. You have an excellent spoken and written command of English and Dutch

What are we offering?

A challenging position in a socially involved organization. On full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of €2,471 (scale 7) and a maximum  of €3.336 (scale 7), depending on your education and experience. The job profile is based on the university job ranking system and is vacant for 0.6 FTE.

The initial employment contract will affect a period of 1 year (0.6 FTE), including a 2 months probation period. After proven suitability and a satisfactory evaluation a permanent contract will be offered.
