Do you want to explore your talents everyday and develop further within one of the most appealing IT environments of the North of The Netherlands and beyond? Do you want to develop yourself personal and professional level? Do you want to discover what really suits you in a working and constantly developing situation? That is possible from May 2019 within the traineeship of the Center for Information Technology (CIT) of the University of Groningen (UG). We offer you five traineeships in a safe working and learning environment, in which you can discover what suits you best. Interesting if you are in IT and want to start your professional career in a more than professional environment that could bring you anywhere, even outside the University of Groningen.
Be careful: most trainees are impressed so much that they continue their career within the UG after finishing their traineeship. The personal and professional development is limitless and won’t stop after the first two years. We will tell you much more in collaboration with ASBR on Friday the 8th of February.
A paid two year traineeship at the Center for Information Technology of the University of Groningen is a personal exploration within a innovative and inspiring environment. In a joint programme, you will work intensively with your fellow trainees and mentor/coaches that will guide you in all your career steps, considerations and personal development. You will go on a journey together and will discover your own core competencies and learning goals and IT in all its diversity within a top university. For two years, one day a week, you will work on your own challenges and you will be educated. You will work on the development of your own skills and will gain insight in modern change management, social skills, project management and all that inspires you ever more. Next to this, you will gain technical IT knowledge and you will learn more about the operations of the University of Groningen in the broadest sense. The other four days of the week you will work in four blocks of six months each on a projects that concern the IT of the future.
You work daily in close contact with professors, lecturers and researchers. Examples of themes are the virtual reality, security, data science, machine learning, big data, geo data, education of the future, application management, architecture and IT/the workplace of the future. All of this not in a traditional hierarchical model, but in diverse roles, with diverse stakeholders and customers in challenging projects. A road full of discoveries.
What do we ask of you in all cases?
- A recently finished university level education
- Maximum 5 years of professional work experience
- A deliberate choice to combine IT, ownership, project leadership and innovation
- A high level of ambition, combined with a focus on results and analytical skills
- The desire and courage to have new learning experiences every day
- Perfect proficiency of the English language in word and writing.
Conditions of employment
The complete recruitment and selection procedure is organised by the Center for Information Technology (https://www.rug.nl/society-business/centre-for-information-technology/ ) in exclusive cooperation with ASBR (https://www.asbr.nl/overview-English/ ). Advantageous for you; you are in direct contact with your future mentors and colleagues and will get an immediate contract at the University of Groningen. The Center for Information Technology offers you directly a contract for two years. We will cover all your cover, training and development expenses. On top of that, you will receive a gross salary of € 2,845 up and until a maximum of € 3,895 (based on a full time contract).
