Associate professor in Robotics

SDU Robotics, part of the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, University of Southern Denmark, located in Odense, invites applications for one or more position(s) as Associate Professor in Robotics. The starting is 01.01.2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. 

Workplace description
The candidate will be integrated in the section SDU Robotics, which is at the core of the Odense Robotics Cluster involving Universal Robots, Mobile Industrial Robots (MIR) and 120+ other companies. We are specialized in robot solutions involving modelling and control of advanced robot technologies. The group is involved in a variety of national and European projects and features a strong network of academic and industrial partners. We solve challenging research problems from real applications and implement novel robot solutions together with end users such as Universal Robots, Terma, LEGO, Danfoss, Bang & Olufsen, Novo Nordisk and Odense University Hospital.

The candidate is expected to: 

  • Document experience with development of reconfigurable hardware and software solutions for industrial tasks.
  • Document an interdisciplinary research record, covering topics such as learning by demonstration, grasping and advanced robot tooling.
  • Have a detailed understanding of mechatronics and robotics for bridging the gap between the industrial robotics and mechanical engineering domain.

 Furthermore, it will be an advantage that the candidate: 

  • Has experience with fund raising on a national and international level
  • Documents skills relevant for project management and team leading
  • Has experience with teaching and supervision of students on both bachelor and master level

The candidate must hold a PhD degree in control, robotics or similar and should have the following qualifications.

Conditions of employment
Employment as an associate professor requires scientific qualifications at PhD level.
