Offer Description
  • Lead and manage a new junior research team within the Department of Human Genetics in close collaboration with the laboratory of Genetic Metabolic Diseases.
  • Conduct cutting-edge research in molecular therapy, focusing on technologies such as AAV, RNA therapeutics, and CRISPR/Cas.
  • Develop and implement strategies to secure external funding.
  • Produce high-impact research publications.
  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision.
  • Play a pivotal role in the development of ECPM and mentor junior researchers.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across different departments.

Requirements
Specific Requirements

We are seeking a self-motivated and ambitious Associate Professor specializing in molecular therapy development for inherited metabolic diseases affecting the central nervous system. This role is crucial for advancing our understanding and treatment of rare neuro-metabolic diseases, and is part of our strategic initiative at ECPM.

Candidate is expected to participate and collaborate actively in the recently formed Emma Centre for Personalized Medicine, and support multidisciplinary education, activities and projects that will lead to accelaration of personalized therapies.

  • A PhD in medicine, medical biology or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in attracting external funding.
  • A history of publications with many citations in relevant fields.
  • Experience in teaching at BSc/MSc level.
  • Expertise in AAV, RNA therapeutics, CRISPR/Cas technology or related areas.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Good command of English; proficiency in Dutch is an advantage.

  • A contract for one year with possibility for a permanent position.
  • Placement in salary scale 12 -14: € 5.459 to € 8.309 gross for a full-time position (depending on education and experience).
