The candidate will work in the Maastricht University’s Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience, Department of Work and Social Psychology, section Applied Social Psychology.
Job description

We are looking for an assistant professor who has experience with and interest in health psychology research. Our new colleague is expected to help us consolidate and expand our current health-related research lines (see https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/research/wsp/research/applied-social-psychology ).
Specifically, we are looking for a social psychologist who will conduct research that is situated at the health psychology focus of our section. Preferably, the candidate also has the skills and interest to contribute to our behavior change research program.
The assistant professor will be expected to contribute to the teaching of our section. We contribute to the bachelor’s programs of Psychology and of Global Studies, and the master’s programs Health and Social Psychology, and Human Decision Science.

Requirements
  • A PhD in psychology or a related discipline, with a focus on social psychology.
  • An interest in developing an own innovative research agenda that is situated at the intersection of the current research lines of our section.
  • Good communicative and networking skills reflecting the ability to engage and collaborate.
  • Good conversational and writing language skills in English. Dutch language skills are helpful.
  • A promising publication track record of health and social psychology research and documented or ambitions to attract own funding.

Conditions of employment

The position is initially for 18 months, unless a previous employment at UM exists. After 18 months and positive evaluation a permanent contract is possible.

Depending on experience and qualification, the maximum gross monthly salary is
€ 5,439 (on a full-time basis) in accordance with scale 11 of the Dutch university collective bargaining agreement.
An 8% holiday and an 8.3% year-end allowance is also provided.

In addition to good primary employment conditions, UM also offers an attractive package of secondary employment conditions. You can think of: flexible working hours, 232 holiday hours per year with a full-time appointment (and the possibility to work 2 extra hours per week to have 96 extra holiday hours on an annual basis), a good pension scheme, possibility to work from home and collective labor agreement a la carte.
