Are you an ambitious PhD and would you like to pursue a career in Academia? Are you interested in human nutrition and health? We have a Tenure Track position with focus on the role of nutrition in the prevention or progression of chronic disease. Will you be our new colleague?
In this challenging career trajectory:
  • you acquire, lead and implement innovative and creative(inter-) national research projects in the chairgroup Nutrition and Disease .
  • you collaborate with colleagues and supervise PhD students, BSc and MSc theses and you develop and teach courses;
  • you contribute to the further development of the Nutrition and Disease of the Division of Human Nutrition and Health of Wageningen University.

Requirements
  • you have a PhD in biomedical sciences;
  • preferably, you have a background in nutrition;
  • you are interested in the etiology and/or progression of chronic disease(s);
  • you have experience with epidemiological research;
  • you have affinity and experience with teaching;
  • you are successful in acquiring grants;
  • you speak Dutch and have excellent English language proficiency (a minimum of CEFR C2 level);
  • you are flexible, positive and creative.

Conditions of employment

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will be offered a fixed-term, 7 year contract which, upon positive evaluation based on criteria elaborated in the University's Tenure Track policy, can lead to a permanent employment contract as professor. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between € 3974,-. and € 5439,-. for a full-time working week of 38 hours in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 11).

Our Mission
The position is embedded in the chair group Nutrition and Disease. People in our chair group support the mission to decrease the risk of disease and improve the health of those with disease through better nutrition. We do this by collecting evidence from well-designed studies and implementing the findings in collaboration with medical specialists and dietitians of academic and regional hospitals and by having strong links with public health organizations.
Our Research
As our website shows, we have a strong focus on the role of nutrition in cardiometabolic diseases, cancer, obesity treatment and gastro-intestinal diseases. Our research methodology mainly includes prospective cohort studies and randomized controlled lifestyle interventions. With other chair groups we share an excellent research infrastructure including nutritional assessment labs, a research kitchen, and laboratory facilities. Our chair group holds researchers with a variety of complementary disciplines, i.e. Nutrition, Epidemiology, Medicine, Medical Biology, and Biostatistics.
Our Education
Our on campus and online courses cover nutrition and specific diseases (cancer and cardiometabolic diseases), general medicine, and research methodology of observational and intervention studies (study designs, epidemiological concepts and data-analysis). All our classes are held in state-of-the-art educational buildings with excellent technical support. We also provide individual supervision of BSc and MSc students during their thesis projects and internships.
Our group
The Chair group Nutrition and Disease currently consists of about 30 PhD fellows, 3 assistant professors in Tenure Track, 2 senior academic teachers, 3 postdoctoral researchers, 3 endowed professors, a personal professor, a full professor (Chair) and research support staff. We provide a flexible and open working environment stimulating personal growth. We are located in a modern building on Wageningen Campus which is a sustainable, green, and inviting place to interact with our students.
