The position is embedded within the division of BioAnalytical Chemistry (BAC) and comprises research, teaching and management. The related research is within the framework of bioanalytical sciences applied to the characterization of biomolecular structure and interactions, for example within the field of (glyco)proteomics, glycomics, metabolomics, or other complex biomolecular networks. Your research will include the development and application of advanced analytical techniques, where mass spectrometry, advanced photo dissociation techniques (UVPD, IRMPD), molecular spectroscopy, ion mobility and/or advanced separation techniques are predominating methods to answer your scientific questions.
Your duties
- The tenure track position is starting at the level of assistant professor in the areas of research, education and management (40%-40%-20%), and comprises, amongst others, the following responsibilities:
- Your research should be closely connected to, strengthen or complement the BAC research program, thereby we encourage you to seek collaborations and synergies
- Acquire and manage research funding, to develop your own research line, and to demonstrate your creative research output by publishing in well-recognized scientific journals
- (Co-)supervise the research of postdoctoral researchers, PhD candidates, Master?s and Bachelor's students
- Participate in the educational program by teaching 2-3 courses a year from the BAC portfolio embedded in the department?s BSc and MSc programs
- Contribute to the division management and departmental activities
Requirements
The ideal candidate has a background in analytical chemistry or physical chemistry - in particular focusing on mass spectrometry-, and is able to strengthen our research in Analytics of Biomolecular Interactions. Therefore, we are looking for:
- An enthusiastic and ambitious scientist with a PhD and research profile in analytical sciences, (bio)physical chemistry or other relevant field, with proven expertise to conduct research in the field of biomolecular mass spectrometry
- A scientist who is able to acquire external funding for his/her research, publishes articles in peer-reviewed journals and is invited for lectures at international conferences
- An enthusiastic lecturer with demonstrable teaching skills who will participate in our educational programs, and proven experience with supervising BSc, MSc, and (preferably) PhD students. He/she has a basic qualification education (BKO), or is willing to acquire this in the first years of the appointment
- A scientist with good managerial and communication skills and an open attitude
What are we offering?
A challenging position in a socially involved organization. On full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of 3,746 (scale 11)
