Are you a motivated researcher specialised in machine learning with an interest in natural computing and applications in sustainable technology? As assistant professor, you will help students develop their knowledge of AI and conduct research on machine learning. This way, you will contribute to the education of the new generation and to new insights in your field. You do all this in a collaborative and diverse environment, with excellent research facilities.


The AI Department of the Donders Centre for Cognition (DCC), embedded in the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, and the School of Artificial Intelligence at Radboud University are looking for an Assistant Professor of Machine Learning with an interest in natural computing and applications in sustainable technology. You will join the Artificial Cognitive Systems (ACS) PI group and interact closely with other machine learning researchers.

You will be expected to develop and conduct AI teaching at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, perform top-quality research in Machine Learning and establish an externally funded research programme, interact and collaborate with other researchers and specialists in academia and/or industry, and be an inspiring member of our staff with excellent communication skills.

The objective of the position is to develop state-of-the-art AI research of international standing and to contribute to teaching on machine learning-related topics in the educational programme. DCC and the Donders Institute provide excellent facilities such as computing facilities, a robot lab, a virtual reality lab, behavioural labs, and a technical support group. The AI Department is also one of the founding members of Radboud AI and the ELLIS Unit Nijmegen.


Profile
  • You hold a PhD degree in artificial intelligence, applied physics, computer science or a related discipline.
  • Preferably, you have some postdoctoral experience.
  • You have an excellent track record in scientific research, as evidenced by publications in top-tier Machine Learning conferences and journals.
  • You have a proven ability to provide inspiring teaching in English.
  • You possess a Dutch university teaching qualification or are willing to obtain one.
  • You have experience in the acquisition of external funding and have an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • You are an enthusiastic academic and able to work in a team.

We offer
  • Employment for 0.8 - 1.0 FTE.
  • The gross monthly salary amounts to a minimum of €3,821 and a maximum of €5,230 based on a 38-hour working week, depending on previous education and number of years of relevant work experience (salary scale 11 ). A development track and growth to salary scale 12 is possible. 
  • You will receive 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
  • It concerns a temporary employment for at most 1.5 years, which will be made permanent upon satisfactory performance.
  • You will be able to use our Dual Career and Family Care Services .
