Job description
The Department of Tax Law offers several courses in the field of international and European tax law, as part of our LL.M. programmes. We offer an international classroom with students from over 20 different nationalities. We invite applications from persons who would like to help our students to excel in this highly dynamic field of law and who can contribute to our department’s research efforts in the field.

Requirements
Applicants should fulfill the following main requirements:
- A PhD degree related to the field of international (and European) tax law;
- Experience and excellence in international (and European) tax law;
- Experience with academic teaching is preferred;
- Expertise in transfer pricing would be of benefit;
- Fluency in English, at least at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
- A willingness to learn basic Dutch in due time;
- Being able to work both independently as well as in a team, with a solution-oriented attitude and a healthy dose of academic curiosity.
Conditions of employment
Fixed-term contract: 18 months.
- A salary initially based on scale 11 of the collective labour agreement of the Dutch Universities depending on qualifications and work experience (minimum € 3.974 and maximum € 5.439 gross per month for a full-time job). An 8% holiday and an 8.3% year-end allowance is also provided;
- While the position is a permanent one, the initial contract will be for 18 months for any candidate newly entering Maastricht University;
- Candidates will be required to acquire a university teaching qualification within 2 years (on-the-job) if still needed;
- Start: to be agreed.

The Department of Tax Law and the Maastricht Centre for Taxation
The Department of Tax Law, embedded within the Faculty of Law, services some 500 students in various tax programmes at the Faculty of Law and the School of Business and Economics, including an LL.M programme in International & European Tax Law. It also provides post-graduate courses for accountants and controllers and elective courses to students from other programmes. Our Maastricht Centre for Taxation, in which all department members participate, focusses on research in regard to migration and cross-border employment as well as international business taxation and tax competition.
You will work in the field of international and European tax law together with dedicated colleagues and a soon to be appointed new full Professor of international tax law.
