Research Centre for State and Law

(SteR) delivers high-quality research exploring developments in the field of public law. It aims to achieve a structural cross-fertilisation between academia and practice, resulting in research output that has an impact on legal science as well as the real world. 

The Department of International and European Law of the Faculty of Law develops and delivers high-quality education in both fields, in English as well as Dutch. It is responsible for a dedicated Bachelor's programme in European law, as well as for multiple Master's specialisations in international and European law. Its research covers various specialised fields, including international human rights law, EU external relations law, EU competition law, EU internal market law, and the administration of justice. The Department currently has over 20 staff.
