Do you know the 'game rules of society' like no other and would you like to make a meaningful contribution? As assistant professor, you will help students develop their legal knowledge and conduct research in public international law. In this way, you will contribute to the education of the new generation of lawyers and to new insights in your field. 


You have a profound knowledge of public international law. You are able to teach courses in that field at both Bachelor's and Master's level. You are also able to teach European law at the Bachelor's level. Your teaching skills are beyond doubt, and you have obtained substantial teaching experience. You are eager to teach advanced courses in an LL.M. programme, but equally happy to deliver more basic tutorials, and supervise moot courts and Bachelor's/Master's theses.
Research-wise, you hold a decent track record of publications and are committed to engage in collaborative projects with colleagues at our Research Centre for State and Law. Your expertise preferably fits in with one of the four specific sub-programmes, or you have concrete ideas about how you could properly link up with them in the near future.
Profile
  • A PhD in public international law or European Union law, preferably with an interest in both fields.
  • An excellent command of the English language, both orally and in writing (C2 level).
  • A good command of the Dutch language or the willingness to learn Dutch or improve your Dutch language skills is considered an asset.
  • Substantial teaching experience, supported by positive student evaluations.
  • A decent track record of publications in journals/volumes of good standing.

We are

The core tasks of the Faculty of Law at Radboud University are education and research. The academic education provided focuses on training all-round lawyers and delivering postgraduate courses for lawyers. The public law-oriented Research Centre for State and Law (SteR) delivers high-quality research that explores various developments in the field of public law. It aims to achieve a structural cross-fertilisation between science and practice, resulting in research that is important to both legal science and legal practice. 


The Department of International and European Law at the Faculty of Law develops and delivers high-quality education in both fields, in English as well as Dutch. It is responsible for a dedicated Bachelor's programme in European law, as well as multiple Master's specialisations in international and European law. The Department conducts research into various specialised fields, including international human rights law, EU external relations law, EU competition law, EU internal market law and the administration of justice. The Department has currently more than 20 staff.

We offer
  • Employment for 1.0 FTE.
  • The gross monthly salary amounts to a minimum €4,629 and a maximum of €5,943 based on a 38-hour working week, depending on previous education and number of years of relevant experience (salary scale 12 ). The use of a development trajectory in combination with a preliminary salary scale is possible (salary scale 11 ).
  • You will receive 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
  • It concerns a temporary employment for 1 year, with the prospect of a permanent position after positive evaluation.
