Deadline: 10 Jan 2023

Are you a productive and active researcher? Do you hold a PhD in English linguistics? And do you have an international network of contacts in academia and the ambition to fulfil a leadership position in your field? If so, you have a part to play!

As an Assistant Professor you will join the staff of the English Language and Culture (ELC) section. ELC, in which the language of instruction is English, is part of the department of Modern Languages and Cultures in the Faculty of Arts. You will be expected to participate in the Faculty’s teaching at all levels: you will be teaching BA and MA courses in linguistics and English language skills, supervise BA and MA theses, supervise PhD candidates in areas of your specialisation, participate in educational support activities such as mentoring, and actively contribute to curriculum development. You will be closely involved in the development of the English Language and Culture BA programme and assist in shaping its future direction.

You are a productive and active researcher who conducts empirical research on language variation with a focus on English and publishes in international high impact journals. Your research will centre around either spoken or written English and will be embedded in the Radboud Centre for Language Studies (CLS). You will be expected to seek external funding and be active in suitable public engagement activities. You should be willing to collaborate with other academic staff in research activities and participate in committees and/or project groups within ELC, CLS, or the Faculty. The position involves 40% research and 60% teaching.

The Faculty of Arts at Radboud University is committed to diversity and inclusivity. Candidates from underrepresented groups are especially invited to apply.
