Assistant Professor in Physical Activity and Health

The Research Unit of Physical Activity and Health at Work (PAW ) at the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics, SDU, invites applications for a position as assistant professor in Physical Activity and Health to be filled as soon as possible and for a period until 31 March 2022.

The position includes research and teaching and is associated with the Horizon 2020 project ”Self-back” (Grant No. 689043). Currently, the main work task in the Self-back project is to conduct an RCT testing an app containing a program with tailored advice on physical training and pain management in patients with low back pain. The assistant professor is expected to take responsibility for the current data collection and recruitment of low back pain patients in the randomized study, involving regular contact to approx. 20 clinical settings and the Spine Center in Middelfart. The project is part of the broad interdisciplinary collaboration within the Centre for Muscle and Joint Health.

The research environment is international and good communication skills and fluency in speaking and writing in English is mandatory. The position will imply teaching in relevant bachelor courses such as welfare technology and physical education and graduate students in Sports Science and Master of Physiotherapy.
Applicants must have a relevant education such as MSc, graduate in medicine or physiotherapy and have completed a PhD or an equivalent research education providing expertise in physical activity, fitness and health and preferably including mixed methods with experience in work exposure assessments, questionnaire survey, literature studies and intervention mapping.

Assessment of applicants will consider skills in written and oral communication in English, cooperation in international project teams, teaching skills. High priority will be given to scientific publication in peer-reviewed journals and experience with physical activity as a component in treatment or health enhancement.
