Job description

The department of Genetics and Cell Biology is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic colleague to fill the position of Assistant professor (0.8 – 1.0 FTE).
In this position, you will be working for two different complementary research schools:

  • NUTRIM, with cutting-edge facilities in the field of nutrition and metabolism;
  • GROW, with its extensive expertise in cancer models and infrastructure for tumor modelling.

You will built your own translational research line that fits and combines the expertise from the two research schools mentioned. Next to this, you will spend up to 50% of the position on the implementation and development of high-quality education within the different programs of the faculty. You are enthusiastic, ambitious, and creative, with passion towards translational research that combines metabolism and cancer and a wide interest in research with (pre)clinical data, clinical studies and/or "virtual clinical trials" on this topic.

What are we looking for?
You possess established expertise in the field of higher education and aspire to develop both the educational programs and your own educational skills. You are a real team player that makes optimal use of the state of the art facilities and expertise we have to offer in our organization.

Next to this:

  • You hold a PHD in Biomedical Sciences, Medical Biology Life Sciences or related;
  • You have a strong motivation with respect to translational research;
  • You show an affinity towards the fields of oncology and immunology;
  • A license to work with experimental animals, as well as experience therein is a strongplus;
  • An analytical mindset, a pro-active approach and excellent communication skills.

Conditions of employment

A one-year contract, with the option of receiving a permanent position after a positive assessment. 

We offer a salary as stipulated in the Collective Labour Agreement of the Dutch Universities. Within this framework, we offer a competitive salary with a minimum of € 3.974,- and a maximum of €5.439,- per month (depending on your experience) for a full-time position of 38 hours/week. On top of this, there is an annual holiday allowance (8% of annual income) and an annual end-of-year bonus (8.3% of annual income).
