For the section Clinical Psychological Science of the Faculty of Psychology & Neuroscience of Maastricht university, we are looking for an assistant professor with expertise in health and/or clinical psychology.
Job description

You will contribute to research (50%) and teaching (50%) in health and/or clinical psychology, and will join a motivated group of research and teaching staff.

Teaching (50%):
You will develop and provide teaching, mainly in the master’s program Health & Social Psychology. This program teaches students about unhealthy behavior and behavioral change. With theory and empirical research from health, clinical, cognitive and experimental psychology, unhealthy behavior is explained and possible intervention methods to achieve behavioral change are studied. You coordinate courses, you are a tutor in several courses, give lectures and supervise research of master thesis students.

Research (50%):
You will do research in one of the groups of the department of Clinical Psychological Science, in health and/or clinical psychology, preferably into transdiagnostic processes in one or more of the following domains: chronic pain, sexual dysfunction, psycho-oncology, obesity, and/or eating disorders.

  • You publish your research in international scientific journals.
  • You present your research on national and international conferences.
  • You attempt to secure external funding for your research.
  • You (co) supervise PhD students.
  • You contribute in a positive way to the organization and collaboration within the department and faculty.

Embedding:
This position is hosted by Maastricht University. You will be based at the section Clinical Psychological Science of the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience, and will join one of their research groups, depending on your research focus. Each of these groups provides a lively and supportive research and teaching environment.

Requirements
  • A PhD in clinical or health psychology.
  • Motivation to develop and provide teaching for 50% of your appointment.
  • Experience or affinity with problem based learning.
  • Preferably in possession of a University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) or equivalent.
  • Creative research, and eperience with experimental and/or intervention research.
  • Clear goals and vision what you would like to study in the upcoming five years.
  • International publication track record in clinical and or health psychology.
  • Practice and support Open Science.
  • Good communication, social and organisational skills.
  • Experience in clinical practice / clinical expertise is appreciated.

Conditions of employment

You will be employed temporarily for 12 or 18 months (depending on your employment history) as assistant professor (level 2). Towards the end of this contract period and upon satisfactory performance, this initially 12 or 18 months position will become permanent. Your development goals will also allow you to grow further to the position of assistant professor (level 1).

The starting date of this position will be determined in consultation with the successful candidate.

Depending on experience and qualification, the maximum gross monthly salary
is € 5.439,- (on a full-time basis) in accordance with scale 11 of the Dutch university collective bargaining agreement.
