Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

We are looking for

The Meteorology and Air Quality group at Wageningen University Research (WUR) invites applications for a tenure-track position in the field of atmospheric sciences and/or meteorology. We seek applicants who bring research topics and methods that are complementary to those of other researchers in our group. Any approach(es) or/and their combination, including experimental field work, numerical modelling, and theoretical analysis are of interest. Affinity with the current MAQ lines of meteorological research that range from local to global scales will be valued, especially with a link to land-atmosphere interactions. In addition to the above, you must have the potential for innovation and leadership in research.

The job also requires teaching at BSc and MSc level and advising of students, which amounts to approximately 40% of the time. On our website you find all courses, and they are clearly connected with our research. Interesting to note here is the recognition of the excellent education offered in Wageningen. Our university was chosen as the best institution for higher education in the Netherlands for the 15th time in a row in 2019. Besides that, we are ranked as university as number 1 worldwide in the fields of agriculture, ecology and environment, as well as excellent rankings in other fields.

Furthermore, an important aspect of the job is the acquisition of research projects, both at national and international level, to fund new PhD and postdoc positions. More information on our research and education activities can be found at the page of our group and a short description is provided here

The Meteorology and Air Quality Group   (MAQ) seeks to foster the understanding of atmospheric processes and their relevance for weather, air quality and climate. Research focuses on the atmospheric boundary layer over urban and rural surfaces, including boundary layer clouds, and the atmospheric aspects of the connected energy, water, carbon and aerosol budgets. MAQ pioneers on investigations of the interactions between the land at the atmosphere at the meter and second scales. Our ground-breaking approach is the combination of advanced measurements techniques with fine-scale numerical simulations. Examples of our work can be seen in these video’s about our fieldwork (https://vimeo.com/375081644 ) or numerical simulation of land-atmosphere interactions (https://microhh.github.io/ ), and on websites of current research projects: https://cloudroots.wur.nl/cloudroots / and https://ruisdael-observatory.nl /.
