The University Library
The University Library (UB) Groningen is the UG’s main information hub. As a centre of expertise and service provision, the UB is innovative, professional and customer-oriented. It maximizes IT to increase the availability of information, to promote research being conducted at the UG and to ensure that academic work and knowledge is accessible to future generations. By providing facilities designed to meet the needs of its students, the UB is helping to increase overall pass rates.

The UB is responsible for the maintenance and management of a number of applications that are broadly used within the university, such as Pure (for research output), Hora Finita (for supervising PhD students), EZProxy (for access to academic articles) and repositories. We also manage our own applications, such as WMS (for loaning, adding metadata, purchasing) and the UB app. Some of these systems belong to suppliers, others were developed in-house. There are many interfaces with other systems, such as HR and publishers.

The Development and Innovation (O&I) department is at the heart of innovation within the UB, and carries out work on new digital services. Consultants, project leaders, managers and developers work within the O&I department. The department’s innovative products and services are used every day by thousands of customers from within and outside the UG.

We are currently looking for an application manager to join our management team. The successful applicant must have affinity with chain integration, demonstrable skills in testing, problem analysis and release management and experience in managing database applications.
