Job description

For enabling the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) educational vision 2030, we have the following 3vacancies:
1. Educational Project Manager in Challenge-based Learning (0.8 – 1.0 FTE)
2. Educational Project Manager for Future Assessment Methods (0.8 – 1.0 FTE)
3. Educational Development Officer for the Department of Electrical Engineering (0.8 – 1.0 FTE).

Challenge Based Learning (CBL) is the educational concept that achieves this type of learning at TU/e.  

Education and Student Affairs (ESA) is the central service point for teachers and (prospective) students at TU/e and provides a range of services both centrally and from the departments in the field of educational support, educational logistics, study skills, career guidance, use of ICT resources in education, professional skills and language teaching. ESA also supports the Executive Board, the Deans of the Bachelor College and the Graduate School, and the departments in the fields of education policy, legislation and regulations, quality assurance, education and institution accreditation, educational innovation and internationalization. 

The central Teacher Support & Quality Assurance department within ESA consists of two main areas of attention: Educational Teacher Support and Educational Quality Assurance. The Project Manager CBL and the Project Manager for Future Assessment Methods will become part of this team.   

The mission of the Department of Electrical Engineering is to acquire, share and transfer knowledge and understanding in the whole field of Electrical Engineering through education, research and valorization. The Educational Development Officer for the Department of Electrical Engineering) will become part of the ESA-team of this department. 

 Educational Project Managers / Educational Development Officer 

As an Educational Project Manager or Educational Development Officer, you will be part of a team of motivated education experts helping TU/e teachers to design and innovate their education. Our mission is to provide high-quality EdTech support that is always up to date. The team supports the teacher during the educational design process, analyses, advises, spars, but also has a hands-on mentality and makes a difference.  

1. Challenge-based Learning  

The CBL program guides the CBL implementation TU/e wide. Each department integrates CBL in the study program. The challenging task of Teacher Support in CBL is to advice program directors and teaching staff to design and implement CBL in courses and at program level.  

2. Future Assessment Methods 

The TU/e Vision 2030 gives direction on the development of the education (e.g., Challenged-based Learning) including assessment. The intention is to 1) empower students towards self-directed learning; 2) involve multiple stakeholders in assessment; and (3) assess students on individual learning objectives. 

3. Educational development officer at the department of Electrical Engineering 

In this position you will, together with the other educational development officer, have a central and leading role in the educational development and support of the teachers and teacher teams of the department of Electrical Engineering (EE). ’you will work closely with the education development officer of the Applied Physics department (AP), the program directors EE and AP, the Manager ESA AP/EE, other ESA colleagues of both departments, the chain of TU/e-wide ESA teacher support officers, and the exam and program committees of both departments. 


Job requirements

Are you the innovative educational developer with hands-on project management and stakeholder management skills and experience that wants to bridge the educational needs from the TU/e education? Do you have a well-founded and innovative vision on education and do you function optimally in a matrix of actors, and are you a team player with a customer-oriented attitude?
Can you translate educational needs of program directors and teaching staff to support students’ collaboration in CBL groups?
Then we look forward to receiving your application! Particularly if you recognize the following characteristics in yourself. You are / have:  

  • A university degree, specializing in Education or related studies. 
  • Relevant professional experience. 
  • Experience with (supporting) educational innovations on a curriculum level in higher education. 
  • Able to translate needs from society and industry into educational activities that are implemented in the study programs and/or in courses. 
  • Experience in managing change and facilitating innovation with multiple stakeholders 
  • Hands-on mentality. 
  • Good command of the English language, spoken and written. Preferably also good command of the Dutch language.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate well with teachers. 
  • Support-oriented attitude.

Additional experiences for the Project Manger CBL 

  • Experience with CBL or project / problem / design based learning approaches. 
  • Experience in coaching approaches and methods in relation to coaching and supervision of students on process, products, and competences development. 

Additional Experiences for the Project Manager Future Assessment 

  • A broad orientation towards the (technology enhanced) assessment landscape, 
  • Knowledge of systematic assessment design, the balance between learning and assessment, the power of feedback, feed-up and feed-forward. 

Conditions of employment

What we offer: 

  • A meaningful job in a dynamic and ambitious university. 
  • Depending on experience and education, the salary for a full-time contract ranges between € 2.960,00 and € 5.439,00 gross per month (salary scale 10-11 CAO Dutch Universities).   
  • A broad package of fringe benefits, for instance a year-end bonus of 8.3%, holiday allowance of 8% and excellent sport facilities. 
  • A temporary appointment for a period of one year. The employment contract may be extended in the event of good performance and if the financial conditions remain the same.  

Depending on the CV and work experience, an appointment via EUFLEX (TU/e secondment agency) is possible
