Job description

The Department of Communication and Cognition in the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences is looking for two enthusiastic Assistant Professors, with a background in inclusive and human-centered artificial intelligence.

The successful candidate is expected to initiate and conduct research in the Tilburg Center for Cognition and Communication (TiCC ). Researchers in TiCC explore cognitive and social aspects of human communication through a multidisciplinary approach, combining careful experimentation with survey methods, interviews, corpus analyses and computational modelling. We value methodological innovation and focus on and aim to further develop our research on themes such as ethics and responsible human-centered AI design, inclusion, language, and well-being in a changing (digital) society, climate and health communication, non-verbal and verbal communication in innovative contexts, social responsibility and effective communication design, and communication, resilience and empowerment. The candidate is expected to develop new lines of research fitting within this research program, with a particular focus on the ethical and sociocultural dilemmas of artificial intelligence and computational technologies, and how these can be resolved.

The successful candidate will also contribute to one of the leading programs in the Netherlands in Communication and Information Sciences (CIS), consisting of three tracks: Business Communication and Digital Media (BDM), Communication and Cognition (CC), and New Media Design (NMD). The candidate may contribute to all of the tracks in CIS, and will also supervise bachelor and master theses.
