The G.O. Discovery Laboratory within the UCLA Eli and Edythe Broad Cell Research Center, which is closely affiliated with the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Molecular Biology Institute, invites applications for a Project Scientist at the Assistant, Associate or Full Project Scientist level. This position is under the supervision of Professor Sanaz Memarzadeh, M.D., Ph.D. in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

The G.O. Discovery Lab performs highly innovative and collaborative translational research with the potential to impact direct patient care by providing more effective therapies for women impacted by gynecologic cancers. This position is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated scientist to join a highly energized research team and contribute to research projects funded by federal grants and other sources. The successful candidate will be expected to make significant and creative contributions to the study of epithelial ovarian cancers with a focus on platinum resistant disease. The work will entail research aimed at understanding mechanisms of resistance to standard chemo- and immune therapies in addition to studying tumor cell populations with cancer stem properties. Additionally, the laboratory now has a major focus in the field of immuno-oncology, evaluating multiple innovative cell-based immune therapy approaches in targeting ovarian cancers. Candidates with expertise in pharmacologic assays, drug testing, working with organoids and in vivo models, and immunology are encouraged to apply for this position.

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in a basic science field to apply. Applicants must also be experienced with molecular biology, cell-based studies, in vitro and vivo assays, microscopy, immunohistochemistry, FACS analysis, pharmacology, virology, and immunology. Experience with small animal surgical procedures is required.

The candidate is expected to work closely with the PI and collaborators on research projects. The candidate is also expected to mentor trainees with the PI in the laboratory, gather and analyze data, prepare presentations, write manuscripts, and help write and prepare grant applications.

The level of appointment will be commensurate with the applicant's qualifications. See Table 37B for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $71,500-$188,400.
